06 BLACK RIVER

Harmony of sadness and happiness

Black River

The place where all the colors are mixed

You and I are no different

He and she are no different

There is no difference between this and that

Just blend in and make harmony

There is no need to distinguish between them

Sadness and joy seem like extreme emotions, but I think they are natural emotions that all humans have, and they are emotions that each person feels differently. Just like these diverse emotions that humans feel, there are various beliefs, cultures, religions, and tastes in the world. I imagined what it would be like if all of these were combined. If so, it would flow like a black river.

This work may be the most changed form of Buddha. Instead of the Buddha's dot on the forehead, a cross was added. The cross sign was intentional, but viewers who viewed the exhibition in order might think, 'It could just be a meaningless symbol.' I thought it would be okay to accept it as a religion. This is because I wanted to say that this work is a form that I created with the intention of accepting diverse beliefs, tastes, and cultures.

I wanted to split the face and show the inside to say that no matter what beliefs, tastes, gender, or culture people have, 'We are all the same as humans, as living beings on Earth.' That we are all the same, that when everything is mixed together, it becomes black, and that it will continue to flow without changing over time. I wanted to say that no matter how much I insist and insist on my own, this diversity will never disappear. When I accept that, my mind can become calm and peaceful like a black river.
